\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The department is one of the ancient and important departments in the College of Education for Pure Sciences Ibn Al-Haytham, which has a long history stemming from the nobility of the college, Where the Department of Mathematics was established in 1938 when the name of the college was the House of High School Teachers, then it changed its name to the College of Education in 1958 when the University of Baghdad was founded. The Department of Mathematics was among its first basic departments upon establishment.<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Raising the level of performance in the various fields of mathematics sciences to be one of the first educational departments at the level of the country and the Arab world in terms of educational attainment. In addition to the need to keep pace with the development witnessed by the higher educational renaissance by finding the best services and equipment for the academic cadres of faculty members, providing training and development opportunities for technicians and administrators, and involving students in everything that would develop their skills and help them to create and innovate.<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The mission of the Mathematics Department aims to graduate qualified cadres who possess scientific logical thinking and scientific research skills in the various branches of mathematics. The department also seeks to provide national outputs supported by science and knowledge that contribute to the development of our dear country. By providing the best modern scientific technologies for educational services to students at the university and higher education levels, and working to develop skills that enable them to integrate quickly in all fields. The department also seeks to raise the level of the educational and administrative process by providing the best performance, speed and accuracy of achievement. It supports scientific exchange and interaction between communication and communication with scientific and cultural exchange in the world, and meets the communities of permanent society in order to achieve comprehensive and sustainable development and enable national and global trade.<\/p>\n

General Objectives<\/strong>:<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The department aims to prepare a good, capable and efficient teacher who is able to teach mathematics and complete his postgraduate studies, and who has the following characteristics:<\/p>\n

1-<\/strong> To keep pace with modern educational trends in teaching mathematics, which qualifies him to work efficiently in intermediate and preparatory schools.<\/p>\n

2-<\/strong> To be able to use what he has learned in various applied fields of mathematics.<\/p>\n

3-<\/strong> To learn the mathematical method of thinking (analysis, conclusion and reasoning) in a way that guarantees its proper application in teaching mathematics.<\/p>\n

4-<\/strong> To be able to develop himself in the field of scientific research and inculcate his scientific method, which makes him able to obtain a higher degree such as a master’s degree and a doctorate.<\/p>\n

5-<\/strong> To learn how to build, develop and update mathematics curricula.<\/p>\n

6-<\/strong> That the mathematics curriculum learn a language in which issues are formulated for the best solution.<\/p>\n

7-<\/strong> To be able to encourage positive student interaction, characterized by a spirit of harmony with his colleagues and the school administration.<\/p>\n

Special Objectives<\/strong><\/p>\n

1-<\/strong> Preparing specialists in mathematics to contribute to national development programs and plans in higher education.<\/p>\n

2-<\/strong> Promoting scientific research in the field of mathematics, studying mathematical and statistical problems, carrying out scientific research to find appropriate solutions, participating in national and international conferences, scientific research, and publishing in prestigious scientific journals.<\/p>\n

3-<\/strong> Motivating students to be aware of what is new in scientific research, technological means and smart teaching methods.<\/p>\n

4-<\/strong> Meeting the needs of other departments in the college and university in terms of courses.<\/p>\n

5-<\/strong> Training students to use the vocabulary of mathematics, including symbols and terms, and to understand mathematical structures, especially the numerical, algebraic and geometric systems, as well as understanding the nature of mathematics as an integrated system of knowledge.<\/p>\n

6-<\/strong> Students acquire the ability to solve mathematical problems using different thinking methods, and invent new methods to solve mathematical problems.<\/p>\n

7-<\/strong> Preparing specialists in the field of pure and applied mathematics with educational preparation.<\/p>\n

8-<\/strong> Graduating educational students qualified to work in the field of education for the intermediate, secondary and higher education levels.<\/p>\n

9-<\/strong> Graduating students capable of performing their national duty and contributing to the development of the scientific process.<\/p>\n

10-<\/strong> Graduating qualified students to complete their postgraduate studies (Master’s – PhD).<\/p>\n

11-<\/strong> Developing the innovative capabilities of students and training them to use the scientific method of thinking to confront and treat general and specific problems.<\/p>\n

12-<\/strong> Playing a positive role in the field of scientific research that contributes to scientific progress.<\/p>\n

13-<\/strong> Promoting the movement of authorship and scientific production due to Qatar’s leading role in building human civilization.<\/p>\n

14-<\/strong> Contributing to the transfer of new pure and applied sciences and their techniques to Arabic by advancing the process of Arabization, authorship and translation.<\/p>\n

15-<\/strong> Providing scientific consultations to the government and private sectors, and harnessing scientific and technical expertise in this regard.<\/p>\n
