Under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Education for Pure Sciences \u2013 Ibn Al-Haitham, University of Baghdad, the Women\u2019s Affairs Unit organized an awareness-raising activity on Monday, 21 September 2026, featuring a collection of educational posters addressing the social, environmental, and economic dimensions of life. The activity aimed to raise awareness of the importance of achieving balance and integration among these dimensions as a fundamental basis for promoting sustainability and supporting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).<\/strong>
\nThe awareness activity emphasized the importance of conserving and responsibly managing natural resources, particularly energy and water, while promoting a culture of rational consumption and environmental responsibility among members of the university community. Such practices contribute to reducing waste and excessive consumption and supporting sustainable practices within the university environment.<\/strong>
\nThe posters highlighted the importance of rationalizing energy and water consumption as essential practices that contribute to sustainable development. They also emphasized that the conservation of natural resources is a shared responsibility that requires collective efforts and the adoption of positive behaviors that contribute to environmental protection and the responsible use of available resources.<\/strong>
\nThe posters also presented a number of simple everyday practices for reducing energy consumption, including switching off electrical appliances and lighting when they are not needed, using energy-efficient appliances and equipment, and making maximum use of natural lighting whenever possible. These practices contribute to improving energy efficiency and reducing unnecessary consumption.<\/strong>
\nThe activity aimed to promote positive behaviors and foster a culture of rational consumption and sustainability among the College\u2019s students and staff. It also sought to strengthen awareness of the individual\u2019s role in protecting the environment and conserving natural resources, while contributing to reducing waste and unnecessary costs and promoting responsible practices that support sustainable development efforts.<\/strong>
\nThe activity contributes to several United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly:<\/strong>
\nSDG 6: Clean Water and Sanitation, by raising awareness of the importance of responsible water consumption and the conservation of water resources.<\/strong>
\nSDG 7: Affordable and Clean Energy, by promoting energy efficiency and responsible energy consumption.<\/strong>
\nSDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production, by encouraging responsible consumption patterns and reducing waste and excessive use of resources.<\/strong>
\nSDG 13: Climate Action, by promoting environmentally responsible behaviors that contribute to reducing unnecessary resource and energy consumption and strengthening awareness of sustainable practices.<\/strong>
\nSDG 4: Quality Education, by enhancing knowledge and awareness of sustainable practices and responsible behaviors within the university environment.<\/strong><\/p>\n
