In line with the directions of the University of Baghdad and the commitment of the College of Education for Pure Sciences (Ibn Al-Haitham) to promoting the concepts of sustainable development and environmental preservation, the College has initiated the implementation of solar energy systems across a number of its vital facilities, aiming to rationalize electricity consumption and rely on clean and renewable energy sources.

This project comes the College’s strategic plans aimed at developing environmentally friendly infrastructure, reducing carbon emissions, and spreading environmental awareness among students and staff regarding the importance of renewable energy in supporting a more sustainable and efficient future.

The College Deanship affirmed that the adoption of solar energy systems represents a significant step toward green transformation and the achievement of a sustainable university environment, in line with global efforts to address climate change and enhance the efficient use of natural resources, in addition to supporting innovation in the field of clean energy within educational institutions.

This initiative also contributes to achieving several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), most notably:

SDG 7: Affordable and Clean Energy.

SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities.

SDG 13: Climate Action.
