
Our college welcomed the university task force formed to deliver an introductory seminar on the Tenth Scientific Conference of the Arbaeen Pilgrimage, in the presence of the Dean of the College, Prof. Dr. Firas Abdul Hamid Abdul Latif, his assistants, heads of academic departments, faculty members, and postgraduate students. The seminar was held as part of the University of Baghdad’s preparations to participate in this major scientific event, scheduled to take place on 7–8 August 2026, organized by the Holy Hussaini Shrine through the Karbala Center for Studies and Research.
The seminar was presented by the head and members of the university team, including the Dean of the Institute of Urban and Regional Planning at the University of Baghdad, Prof. Dr. Karim Hassan Alwan, alongside Prof. Dr. Faisal Ghazi Mohammed, Assist. Prof. Dr. Najah Abdul Hassan Abd, Lecturer Dr. Khalid Hussein Abbas, and Lecturer Dr. Hassan Jabber Abdul Atta.
The workshop aimed to introduce the conference themes and highlight its significance. Participants discussed ways to advance the Arbaeen pilgrimage as a major religious and humanitarian occasion, with a focus on improving services and infrastructure, as well as benefiting from scientific research and modern technologies to enhance crowd management and the pilgrims’ experience.
The workshop also reviewed the conference objectives and vision, which emphasize the promotion of spiritual values, peaceful coexistence, and sustainability. In addition, it highlighted the conference’s scientific themes covering intellectual, social, economic, and digital transformation aspects, contributing to establishing the Arbaeen pilgrimage as a global civilizational project.
At the conclusion of the seminar, the Dean of the College stressed the importance of the role of academic institutions in supporting scientific research and actively participating in the conference in order to serve this significant occasion and strengthen its scientific and societal dimensions.
