Department of Biology

The department of Biology was established in 1938 when the name of the college was Dar Al-Moallem Al-Alia, and then it changed its name to the Educational Institute in 1958, when the University of Baghdad was established, the Department of Biology was among its main departments.

The Department of Biology seeks continuous improvement in its work and the consolidation of the principles of improving the performance of the department among all associates through self-evaluation practices according to national and international standards, as well as evaluating the performance of faculty and staff. It works to develop scientific cadres by urging teachers to publish scientific research and promotions and encourage applied scientific research that deals with local problems and the development of academic curricula through the introduction of modern scientific sources and access to scientific curricula in international universities. Also encouraging the use of information and communication technology in learning tools and programs, and develops plans to develop workshops, courses, and seminars in the department.

The vision meets the aspirations of the country’s students, promotes student activities, raises the level of students’ thinking scientifically, cognitively, morally and behaviorally, and adopts and develops performance standards to measure the scientific and applied level of the university student as a sieve to achieve international accreditation standards for universities in all development programs, for the purpose of graduating a generation that is distinguished by its scientific and cognitive dimensions and is able to accomplish What he is charged with, and interacting with scientific updates and laboratory tools in force in all countries of the world. The department’s laboratories have many applied and practical aspects in various aspects of life, so those in charge of this laboratory believe in communicating most of the ideas and visions that include how to deal with laboratory animals and conduct experiments on them through understanding theoretical and practical information and optimal use and safety for our students and developing their abilities in understanding these aspects to serve Humanity.
