The Department of Computer Science at the College of Education for Pure Sciences (Ibn Al-Haitham) welcomed the newly admitted Master’s students for the 2026–2027 academic year, coinciding with the commencement of their first academic lecture in a welcoming and interactive academic atmosphere.

The inaugural lecture was attended by Prof. Dr. Firas Abdul-Hamid Abdul-Latif, Dean of the College, and Asst. Prof. Dr. Haifa Jasim Mohsen, Head of the Department of Computer Science. They delivered a welcoming address to the newly admitted students, wishing them a successful and distinguished academic and research journey. They also emphasized the importance of postgraduate education in developing scientific and research capabilities, advancing knowledge, and contributing to the service of society.
During the meeting, the speakers highlighted the growing importance of Computer Science and its emerging technologies in meeting the evolving needs of the labor market, particularly in light of the accelerating digital transformation and the increasing reliance on computing technologies, artificial intelligence, data analysis, cybersecurity, and software development.
The students were also encouraged to keep pace with rapid scientific and technological developments and to continuously develop their research and practical skills. Such competencies are essential for enhancing their competitiveness in the labor market and enabling them to contribute effectively to addressing scientific and technological challenges.
The Department emphasized its commitment to providing a stimulating academic and research environment that enables postgraduate students to deepen their specialized knowledge, strengthen their research capabilities, and establish meaningful connections between academic study, practical applications, institutional needs, and labor market requirements.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the College and Department administrations reiterated their warm welcome to the new students and expressed their best wishes for a successful academic year and an outstanding postgraduate journey that contributes to preparing highly qualified scientific and research professionals capable of keeping pace with rapid developments in Computer Science and digital technologies.
