The Civil Defense Unit of the College, in cooperation and coordination with the Al-Adhamiya Civil Defense Center, conducted a preventive field training exercise aimed at strengthening fire safety and prevention measures and enhancing institutional preparedness to respond effectively to emergency situations, with the participation of college staff and students.
The exercise was supervised by Mr. Ali Muhannad Ismail, Head of the Civil Defense Unit, with the participation of the staff of the Services Division and the Self-Protection Team. The practical exercise included the implementation of procedures for responding to fire incidents, safe and organized building evacuation mechanisms, and practical training on rapid and coordinated responses during emergency situations.
The exercise aimed to promote a strong culture of safety and prevention among members of the college community, raise awareness of the appropriate procedures to be followed in the event of a fire, and assess the preparedness of self-protection teams and staff to respond effectively to emergency situations. These measures contribute to protecting lives and property and reducing potential risks.
The activity also strengthened institutional coordination between the College and Civil Defense authorities and provided an opportunity to exchange practical expertise in emergency management and incident response, thereby contributing to the development of a safer and more resilient university environment.
This initiative reflects the College’s commitment to promoting a culture of prevention and occupational safety and strengthening practical training in emergency evacuation and response procedures. It is aligned with Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG 4) – Quality Education, particularly its emphasis on providing safe and effective learning environments and developing relevant knowledge and practical skills.
The activity also directly supports Sustainable Development Goal 11 (SDG 11) – Sustainable Cities and Communities, which emphasizes strengthening the resilience of communities, reducing disaster risks and building safer environments capable of responding effectively to potential hazards.
Through such practical initiatives, the College reaffirms the importance of integrating academic education with practical safety and civil defense applications, contributing to the development of a responsible university community equipped with the knowledge and skills required to respond appropriately and effectively to emergency situations.
